50 plus in the countryside: why mature guests choose quiet over a hotel
More and more couples 50+ are trading the hotel bustle for a calm countryside stay.
A hotel buffet at fixed hours, a loud pool full of children and a receptionist you will never see again. That is the model more and more mature couples are simply walking away from. What they choose instead is something simpler: quiet, and contact with a real host.
Why quiet starts to matter more than amenities
At some point the list of attractions stops making an impression. After a few dozen trips you already know that a water park, entertainment programmes and a dance evening are not what you travel for.
What remains is simpler: calm, comfort and the feeling that nobody is rushing you anywhere. Many guests 50+ say it openly in the first phone call: "we just want it to be quiet".
Midweek (Sunday to Thursday) is when the area is at its quietest, often with no guests in the second cabin at all, and the nightly rate is lower than at the weekend: 500 zł instead of 600 zł. It is a rare situation where the cheaper option is also the better one.
Comfort without unnecessary effort
No cooking required. Home-made breakfast and dinner are available for an extra 60 zł per person per night each, ordered in advance together with the booking. We cook ourselves, seasonally, from local produce, proper home cooking, not catering. Portions are big and filling.
No long hauls with the luggage. You leave the car right by the cabin, not in a distant car park.
No watching the clock. Breakfast at whatever time you choose. On a booked day, the hot tub and sauna come with no time limit and no slot to reserve, unlike a hotel spa charged by the hour.
No planning needed. Bikes, two SUP boards, a 4K outdoor cinema, board games and a bonfire spot are included. None of it is compulsory.
Honestly about physical comfort
This is a topic guests rarely ask about directly, so we will answer without being asked.
The cabin and the terrace sit on one level around the entrance, so day-to-day moving around involves no stairs. But the grounds are natural: grass, uneven spots, soft ground after rain. You walk outside to reach the hot tub and the sauna, and in winter that path is short but cold and sometimes slippery.
We are not a place adapted for limited mobility and we do not want to pretend we are. If you walk with a cane, have trouble with balance or anything else worth taking into account, write to us before booking. We will tell you honestly whether it will work.
The same goes for health: the sauna heats up to 90 degrees and the hot tub is hot water. With high blood pressure, heart problems or after a recent procedure, it is worth asking your doctor before you get in. We have no medical staff on site and no 24h reception.
A sample day at a calm pace
Morning. You wake up without an alarm, because nobody is waiting. Breakfast on the terrace at the time you agreed the day before. Mist over the pond and coffee that does not go cold, because you are in no hurry.
Before noon. A walk around the grounds or along the field roads. Whoever prefers takes a bike.
Afternoon. A trip to Lake Huta, 10 minutes by car, or a full day in Toruń, an hour away. Or none of that and a book on the terrace, which with guests 50+ wins surprisingly often.
Evening. Dinner, then the sauna and the hot tub. No time limit, at any hour, no glancing at your watch like at a hotel spa charged by the hour. In winter this is easily the best part of the day.
At night. A quiet the city simply does not have. For some guests the first night is surprisingly restless, because the brain keeps listening for sounds that are suddenly gone. The second night is usually the best in months.
What it costs
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| 1 night midweek (Sun-Thu), 2 people | 500 zł |
| 3 nights midweek, 2 people | 1500 zł |
| 3 nights midweek with full board | 2220 zł |
| Weekend, 2 nights, 2 people | 1200 zł |
The rate already includes: the night, cleaning, bathrobes and towels, bikes, two SUP boards, a 4K outdoor cinema with projector and Netflix, board games, a gas grill, a bonfire spot, the roofed shelter and Starlink. The wood-fired hot tub with jacuzzi and the Finnish sauna are 150 zł per day each, added for the days you choose. None of these things gets added separately at the end of the stay.
The deposit is 25%, paid online via PayNow, the rest is settled on site.
If you are coming with grandchildren
It is a common scenario and it works well. The limit is 4 people per cabin (the 3rd and 4th person cost an extra 50 zł per person per night). On the grounds there are a trampoline, volleyball, badminton, football, bikes and the outdoor cinema, so the children have plenty to do, and you get your quiet in the evening once they are asleep.
With a bigger family you can rent both cabins at once, up to 8 people in total, plus a roofed shelter for about 20 people at family gatherings. Details on the events page.
Rada od Filipa
To couples 50+ I most often recommend a midweek date, not the weekend. The price is lower and the area genuinely quieter, which for many guests at this age matters more than any extra. On top of that, midweek you can come for a single night, which the weekend does not allow.
What to ask before booking, wherever you go
These questions are universal, not just about us.
- Are the hot tub and sauna included in the price, or paid by the hour? (here they are an extra, 150 zł per day each, and on a booked day there is no hourly limit)
- How many metres separate the cabins and is anything between them? (here 250 metres and a wooden panel fence)
- Is there a fixed breakfast hour? (here there is not)
- Can you come for a single night? (here yes, but only Sun-Thu)
- Is there a reception and 24h staff? (here no, there is Filip's number)
- What does the stay really cost with everything you plan?
The full version of this checklist is in the text what to look at when choosing a farm stay.
Who this will not work for
If you expect hotel service, an on-site restaurant and full anonymity, this is not the place. Here a specific person welcomes you, not a reception desk, and that is a feature, not a fault, but it does not suit everyone.
It will also not work if you are looking for a place with a full programme: excursions, entertainment, themed evenings. There is none of that and there will not be.
What next
Check the pricing with the stay calculator or go straight to available dates. If you have a question about comfort, diet or anything else, write via the contact page, I reply by the end of the day at the latest.
Najczęstsze pytania
Is it quieter midweek than at the weekend?
Definitely. Midweek (Sun-Thu) is the calmest time, often with no guests in the second cabin at all, and a night costs 500 zł instead of 600 zł.
Do we have to cook for ourselves?
No. Home-made breakfast and dinner are available for an extra charge (60 zł per person per night each), ordered in advance together with the booking.
Are the grounds and the cabin comfortable without unnecessary effort?
The cabin and the terrace sit on one level around the entrance. The grounds are natural though, with grass and uneven spots, and you walk outside to reach the hot tub and sauna. If you have particular needs, write to us in advance.
Can we come for a single night?
Yes, but only from Sunday to Thursday. A weekend is always a minimum of 2 nights.
Are the sauna and hot tub safe with high blood pressure or heart problems?
That is a question for your doctor, not for us. The sauna heats up to 90 degrees and the hot tub is hot water, so with cardiovascular conditions it is worth consulting first. We have no medical staff on site.
Is there parking close to the cabin?
Yes, you leave the car right by the cabin, not in a distant car park. It matters when carrying luggage.
Can we come with the grandchildren?
Yes, the limit is 4 people per cabin, and on the grounds there are a trampoline, bikes, volleyball and the outdoor cinema. A bigger family can rent both cabins.
