A countryside holiday with a teenager: how not to hear that it is boring
A teenager in the countryside is a different problem than a small child. What really works, why Starlink matters more than the trampoline here and how many days make sense.
With a small child the problem is safety and logistics. With a teenager there is one problem and every parent knows it: "what am I supposed to do there?", asked in the car, twenty minutes before arrival.
This text is about answering that with more than "you will observe nature".
Let us start with the internet, because that is the conversation
There is no point pretending a teenager will go to the countryside and put the phone down because it is pretty there. They will not, and a forced detox turns the trip into a three-day conflict.
We have Starlink, meaning satellite internet. It is not an emergency hotspot: programmers and video editors sending clients heavy files work on it here. Streaming, messengers and online gaming work.
That sounds like a counter-argument in a text about a countryside trip, but it works the other way round. When the internet is not a problem, it stops being a topic. A teenager who knows they can go online whenever they want stops checking whether they can after half a day.
What really works
The SUP boards. Two per cabin, included. This is the item that wins most often: standing on a board on the pond is hard enough to be a challenge, and funny enough on the first attempts to turn into story material.
The 4K outdoor cinema with Netflix. The projector sits under the roofed shelter, so it works in the rain too. A film night outdoors is the one thing on this list that is impossible in the city.
The fishing pond by Domek Marzeń. Catch and release, rod included. Sounds like an attraction for grandad, and regularly the teenager turns out to be sitting there for three hours, because the first fish caught in your life does its thing regardless of age.
Volleyball, badminton, football. Works if there is someone to play with. Less so with one child.
The bikes. Two per cabin, so with a family of 2+2 it is worth knowing there are not enough for everyone at once, unless you rent both cabins.
The hot tub and sauna. Teenagers take these surprisingly seriously, especially the sauna, because it is something adults do.
The bonfire. In the evening, with the phone put down not because someone said so, but because both hands are busy with a stick.
What there is not, and better to say it in the car
There is a trampoline, but with a fifteen-year-old that is not an argument.
There is no pool, water park, quad rental, escape room or anything you could call a commercial attraction. The nearest bathing spot is Lake Huta, 10 minutes by car, and it is an ordinary lake, not a resort.
There are no other teenagers. That is a real minus at this age and there is no way around it: the grounds hold two cabins, so the company is you and possibly the family in the second cabin, if anyone happens to be there.
Toruń is an hour away, so "popping into town" means an expedition, not a decision.
How many days make sense
This is the part that makes the biggest difference.
Two nights are usually not enough. The first day is inertia: phone in hand, judging the place, the feeling that nothing is happening. On the second day the switch begins, but by then you are packing the car.
Three nights are the minimum. That is the moment the phone starts lying on the table rather than in the pocket, and the question "can we do the SUPs again" appears.
A week works best, if you can manage it, and then Starlink stops being just a convenience for the child and starts being what lets one of the parents get some work done.
| Length | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1-2 nights | Too short. The teenager will not manage to leave city mode. |
| 3 nights | The minimum that makes sense. On day two the breakthrough happens. |
| 5 nights (Sun-Thu) | 2500 zł at the base rate, cheaper than weekends, and a real reset for everyone. |
Rada od Filipa
It works better if the teenager makes at least one decision about the trip. Which cabin, what you watch in the outdoor cinema in the evening, who gets on the SUP first. A trip someone is going on is different from a trip someone was taken on, and the difference comes from small things, not from attractions.
Practical things
Chargers and power banks. More than you think.
Headphones. Four people in one cabin for three days is a situation where everyone sometimes needs their own sound space.
Bring something to play. Board games are on site, but your own deck of cards or a favourite game works better.
Do not announce it as a digital detox. That is the fastest road to resistance. You are going to a place with a hot tub, a sauna and fast internet, and that is the truth.
Two bikes per cabin. With a family of four it is worth knowing in advance and planning who rides when.
What it costs
The limit is 4 people per cabin, the base rate covers 1-2 people, the third and fourth person cost 50 zł per person per night.
| Option | Price |
|---|---|
| 3 nights Sun-Thu, 2+2 | 1800 zł |
| 5 nights Sun-Thu, 2+2 | 3000 zł |
| Weekend, 2 nights, 2+2 | 1400 zł |
| Both cabins, 8 people | individual quote |
Included: the night, cleaning, bathrobes and towels, bikes, two SUP boards, a 4K outdoor cinema with projector and Netflix, board games, a gas grill, a bonfire spot, the roofed shelter and Starlink. The wood-fired hot tub with jacuzzi and the Finnish sauna are 150 zł per day each, added for the days you choose. Food is separate, 60 zł per person per night per meal, and with teenagers it is worth counting that honestly, because they eat like adults.
If you are going with two families
A solution rarely thought of, and with teenagers it works best: renting both cabins. Eight people, four bikes, four SUP boards, two hot tubs and two saunas, and above all company of a similar age.
The quote is individual, so write to us instead of booking through the calendar. Details on the events page.
Who this will not work for
If the teenager is dragged along and openly does not want this, two nights of quiet will not fix anything. Quiet helps those who seek it, not those it was imposed on.
If the expectation is amusement-park-style attractions, there will be disappointment, and it is better to settle that before the trip than on the first evening.

Najczęstsze pytania
Is there internet a teenager will not go crazy on?
Yes, we have Starlink. It is not a weak hotspot, it is a connection video editors work on here. Streaming and online gaming work.
What is there to do besides the phone?
SUP boards on the pond, bikes, volleyball, badminton, football, a 4K outdoor cinema, a bonfire, and at Domek Marzeń the fishing pond with a rod included.
How many days make sense with a teenager?
Two nights are usually too few to switch out of city mode. Three are the minimum at which, on the second day, the phone starts lying on the table.
Can a teenager use the hot tub and sauna?
The hot tub yes, on the same terms as an adult. The sauna too, though shorter the first time and preferably not alone.
Is there mobile coverage?
Coverage in the countryside can vary, but Starlink gives stable wifi, so messengers and streaming work regardless of your operator's signal.
Will two teenagers fit in with their parents?
Yes, the limit is 4 people per cabin. If more space is needed, both cabins can be rented, up to 8 people in total.
What if the teenager really does not want to go?
Honestly: two nights of quiet will not convince someone dragged along. Give them something they decide on themselves, e.g. the choice of cabin or of what you watch in the outdoor cinema in the evening.
