How long the drive takes: a distance table from Polish cities

The people of Rypin have it closest: 10 km and 10 minutes. Furthest away are those from Poznań: about 250 km and about 3.5 hours. The rest of Poland our guests drive from fits between those two numbers, and one booking decision depends on them: how many nights are worth coming for at all.

The address for your navigation is Rogowo 69, 87-515 Rogowo, in the Rypin district. There are several places called Rogowo in Poland, so it is worth checking that the map has caught the right one.

The table: kilometres, hours and number of nights

The times are for driving at an ordinary hour, without the Friday jams on the way out of the cities. For Włocławek we give only the time, because we have not measured the kilometres on that route and we do not want to enter an approximate number. The swimming spot guests ask about, Lake Huta, is 10 minutes away by car. We have no lake of our own.

Where the nights column comes from

Up to 40 km one midweek night is enough, because the drive does not eat the evening. You set off after work, you are here before six, you have the hot tub, dinner and a morning, and you go back the next day without the feeling that half the stay passed in the car. A single night is possible here only from Sunday to Thursday; the weekend is always a minimum of two nights. This is set out at more length in the post on whether to take one night or two.

From 70 to 110 km, two nights is the minimum. An hour or two each way means the first day ends with the drive and the last one starts with packing. With two nights you have one day between them that no journey touches.

From 180 km upwards take two nights, and three if you can. Five to seven hours behind the wheel there and back is too much to pay off with a single night. A third night costs 500 zł from Sunday to Thursday and 600 zł at the weekend, while the 150 zł cleaning fee is paid once for the whole stay, not per night. The longer the stay, the less that amount weighs.

The last stretch: what you see for the final ten minutes

The last few kilometres are country roads and fields. The tarmac narrows, the signs disappear, and after dark there are no street lights. Navigation can be unreliable here, so along with the booking confirmation we send a description of the way in words: what you pass, where you turn, what you should see before the entrance to the property.

Rogowo does not sit on a through route. Nobody drives past here by accident, and the same thing that makes the arrival harder is what gives you the quiet afterwards.

What time to set off to get into the cabin at 3 pm

A night starts at 3 pm and ends at 11 am the next day. To the driving time from the table add half an hour for a stop, a coffee and shopping on the way, because there is no restaurant on site and the kitchen is yours to use.

That gives this departure plan:

• from Rypin, Skępe, Lipno and Sierpc: 2 pm
• from Toruń, Włocławek and Brodnica: 1.30 pm
• from Bydgoszcz: 12.30 pm
• from Warsaw and Łódź: noon
• from Poznań: 11 am

Later is fine too. The night is yours until 11 am the next day whatever time you arrive, there is simply less left of a short stay. If you are ordering lunch from us, 60 zł per person per night, write at booking what time you plan to arrive.

The hot tub is heated for your arrival

The tub waits hot, whatever time you get here. You do not have to light it or wait after the journey for the water to come up to temperature.

A wood-fired stove heats it, so you set the temperature yourself and can change it through the whole evening. It is nicest at 38-40 degrees. On arrival day you get a text from us with instructions, so you are not guessing what to do and in what order. The hot tub and sauna are 150 zł per day each, and on a day you have booked you use them with no hour limit, at any time. What that looks like in practice is described here.

The Finnish sauna heats up to 90 degrees and stands separately by the cabin, in a wooden barrel.

If your city is not in the table

The table holds only the routes whose driving time we have checked, and we do not add cities to it by feel. For other directions just call or write, and we will work out the route together and say how many nights make sense with it.
